Fentanyl, Crack Cocaine, Prescription Medicine Recovered During Traffic Stop in Brooklyn, Police Say


On January 23, 2020 at approximately 2:40 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on a blue Honda Accord sedan for multiple traffic violations in the area of Belle Grove Road near 10th Avenue in Brooklyn. 

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers observed suspected CDS and paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. The female driver and male passenger were detained. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of  two clear plastic bags containing suspected marijuana, a smoking device containing suspected crack cocaine residue and paraphernalia used to package CDS for distribution. 

Officers determined the passenger of the vehicle, Haywood Smith, III, had an outstanding arrest warrant. 

The following items were recovered from Haywood:

73 capsules of Heroin/Fenatyl (22.43g)
11 individual containers of “crack” cocaine (7.12g)
a large bag of packaged “crack” cocaine (0.88g)
2 pills of Oxycodone
5 pills of Alprazolam
8 pills of MDMA
small bags of marijuana and assorted paraphernalia
$794 is currency was also seized

The driver, Amanda Bishop (left picture), was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and CDS paraphernalia. The passenger, Haywood Smith, III, (right picture) was arrested and charged with possession of CDS with intent to distribute and related charges.
