Missing Swimmer Reportedly Drowned in Harwood, Officials Say

Fire officials are releasing more information on a drowing incident in Harwood which left one man dead yesterday. 

On Sunday at about 3:40pm, Firefighters responded to the Rhode River near Locust Point, in the area of the 1300 block of Cumberstone Road Harwood, MD 20776  for a report of a swimmer missing in the area of the Rhode River near Locust Point.

 The 9-11 caller reported that the subject jumped off a yacht to retrieve a dinghy and subsequently went under the water and did not surface. 

Divers conducted a search in the area, and an adult male was recovered by divers and declared deceased at the scene just before 6:30 p.m.
