Community Launches GoFundMe to Support Funeral Costs for Local Woman with Deep Annapolis Ties
The local community is rallying behind the family of Shirley Lynch-Gordon, a woman known for her service, compassion, and deep ties to Annapolis through both professional and volunteer work.
Community leaders are actively helping to support Shirley's family with funeral and memorial expenses. A GoFundMe campaign has been established, and funds raised help her family to cover some of the final costs.
Shirley was widely known for her extensive service, profound compassion, and deep ties to Annapolis, cultivated through both her professional and volunteer work. She was a fixture of kindness, dedicating her time and energy to various local government and nonprofit organizations, as well as community centers, faith groups, and civic initiatives. A longtime friend eloquently noted, "She didn’t just serve this city—she loved it. Shirley had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Annapolis is better because of her, and her absence will be deeply felt."
Community leader Adetola Ajayi said "I worked with Shirley Lynch-Gordon for many years in Annapolis. She passed away unexpectedly, plesse donate so her family can send her home in honor."
A family member also shared the sentiment, "This is about making sure Shirley’s life is celebrated the way she deserves. She gave so much to everyone else. Now we’re asking the community she loved so dearly to help give her a proper goodbye." The campaign has already received numerous heartfelt messages, underscoring the impact Shirley had on so many lives. One donor commented, "Shirley helped my family during one of the toughest times in our lives. Her legacy is one of compassion. We’re honored to support her final journey."
