Anne Arundel County Police: Arrest Warrants Issued in Connection with Alleged 2023 Glen Burnie Carjacking, Kidnapping
The Anne Arundel County Police Department has announced the issuance of arrest warrants charging Crystal Humphries, 35, of Halethorpe, Maryland, and David Jiles, 39, of Baltimore, Maryland, in connection with an alleged 2023 carjacking and kidnapping incident.
According to the police department, Humphries is accused of committing carjacking and kidnapping offenses along with related charges. The warrants allege that she forcibly took control of a vehicle, restrained or detained a victim, and potentially transported that individual against their will.
The allegations include carjacking and kidnapping, department officials said. David Jiles is also named in the warrants—while the exact role he is alleged to have played is not fully detailed in the public announcement, law enforcement sources indicate he may have been an accomplice or participant in the same incident.
The police department issued the following details regarding the incident:
" On April 15, 2023, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a carjacking incident at Crewboats To Go, located at 6211 Old Pennington Avenue in Baltimore. The adult female victim reported that at approximately 2:30 a.m., while dropping off a friend in the 300 block of Milton Avenue in Glen Burnie, she was approached by two suspects. The victim stated that the female suspect dragged her from the vehicle and confined her in the trunk, assisted by the male suspect. The vehicle was then driven away from Milton Avenue and stopped on Pennington Avenue above Curtis Creek. The victim was subsequently pulled from the trunk and thrown over the side of the bridge into Curtis Creek. Both suspects fled the scene in the victim's vehicle, a black 2012 Mercedes 550 sedan. The victim managed to swim to safety and received assistance from bystanders. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. "
No arrests have yet been confirmed in open reports, and both individuals, who remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, remain at large as of the latest statements from authorities.
Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Regional Crimes Unit are leading the investigation. The department is urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Humphries or Jiles to contact them.
