Annapolis Firefighters Mourn the Loss of Retired Captain Robert “Bobby” Daywalt

The Annapolis Professional Firefighters have announced the passing of Retired Captain Robert "Bobby" Daywalt, a loss described as being "felt across the entire fire service community."

Joe Pilat, President of IAFF Local 1926, stated, "Bobby was a cherished member of the Annapolis Professional Firefighters and the Annapolis Fire Department."

Captain Daywalt was widely known across Maryland as a respected state fire instructor, having "dedicated his life to the service of others and the mentorship of firefighters."

Just days before his passing, he attended the department's first retiree breakfast, where he joined fellow retirees. The union noted that "sharing stories, laughter, and fellowship" from that event "now serve as cherished memories."

Daywalt was also "a lifelong friend to Fire Chief Remaley" and affectionately known as "Uncle Bobby" to the Chief's children.

Pilat concluded, "While his passing is the result of a tragic act, we choose to celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of Captain Daywalt. Rest easy, Captain. We will carry your memory forward with pride."
