#update: As of 8:30pm-
From a source speaking under conditions of anonymity:
"We have been cleared from lockdown due to a nationwide hoax involving threats to college campuses, including the naval academy. The initial threat stated that a former midshipman was planning to shoot up the school, which was later distorted to claim the individual was disguised as a police officer. Law enforcement intervened and cleared Bancroft Hall. During the incident, a midshipman mistook the police entering his room for the shooter and struck an officer in the head. The officer responded by shooting the midshipman in the arm. We are now preparing to return to normal operations. The injured midshipman is being medevac'd to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition."
As of 9:44pm, a Naval Academy spokesperson has reported the lockdown is still in place. However, would not would not elaborate further on other details, and did confirm or deny that a midshipman was shot or that an officer was injured.
As of 12:17am, the lockdown has been lifted.
