Lothian Man Faces Gun Possession Allegations Following Arrest by County Police

The Anne Arundel County Police Department announced the arrest of a man from Lothian on handgun possession allegations. 

On August 29, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Southern District Detectives, supported by the Quick Response Team and K-9 units, executed a search warrant in the area. This operation was conducted as part of an ongoing drug investigation, according to a press release. 

During the execution of the warrant, Daniel Lee Riggs Sr., 64, the target of the investigation, was located in the residence's basement. The search of the property yielded the following items: a Remington Sportsman 12-gauge shotgun, a .22 caliber Savage bolt-action rifle, a .380 caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol (which had been reported stolen), a black powder pistol, .380 and .22 ammunition, and a small quantity of CDS "crack" suspected cocaine along with associated paraphernalia. 

According to police department officials, Mr. Riggs was legally prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition.
