Washington Commanders Extend VIP Game Day Experience to Annapolis Woman Courageously Battling ALS, After Heartfelt Request Garners Team's Attention
The Washington Commanders has made the wish of a super fan from Annapolis battling ALS come true with the ultimate experience, including a private suite and field passes for her family.
Rachel Martin and her family will be attending tomorrow's game with a suite and field passes after a recent social media post highlighted the difficulty in finding adult "Make-A-Wish" opportunities, stating, "It's so hard to find an adult version of "make a wish." "Most places I found you have to be a kid or dying of cancer. I have breast cancer but that's not what I'm dying from. ALS is the true culprit," Mrs. Martin said. "My wish is simple: I want to attend a Commanders game with my family. I want to sit in a suite because I burn like crazy in the sun. I would love field passes so the boys can meet the players, and I can see the joy and excitement in their eyes. Olivia can meet the cheerleaders, and I can just sit back and smile." Her post garnered over 100 shares, bringing significant attention to her wish from the team.
Valerie Biberaj, VP of Community Relations and Executive Director of the Washington Commanders Charitable Foundation, issued a statement to Report Annapolis News confirming, "Thank you for reaching out. We’ve reached out to the family offering a suite experience and field passes. Happy to make this happen for one of our fans."
Rachel, her husband Jamar, and their children will enjoy this special VIP game day experience as the Washington Commanders play the Las Vegas Raiders at Northwest Stadium tomorrow, Sunday, September 21, at 1:00 PM.
Update: The team provided an exceptional experience, with the family witnessing pregame warmups from the field and receiving visits from Managing Partner Josh Harris, Commanders players, Major Tuddy, Command Force, and Washington Legends throughout the day.
