One Person Killed on Bens Drive During Violent Weekend in Annapolis: 2 Shootings, 1 Burglary, 1 Robbery in 39 Hours

Over the weekend, Annapolis experienced a troubling 39-hour period involving a robbery, a burglary, and two separate shootings, which unfortunately resulted in one fatality.

On Friday, July 4, at 9:42 a.m., emergency units responded to Croll Drive, where a 26-year-old individual was found with gunshot wounds. Further details were not made available. Later that night, at approximately 9:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Chase Street for a robbery. The victim reported that three unknown individuals approached him, one of whom brandished a firearm. The suspects demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim's personal firearm before assaulting him and fleeing the scene.

The following day, July 5, 2025, at approximately 11:10 a.m., officers responded to a reported burglary in the 100 block of Clay Street. The complainant stated that her handgun was stolen from an Airbnb she had rented for the July 4th parade while she and her family were out. Just under 16 hours later, on July 6, 2025, at 1:40 a.m., officers responded to the unit block of Bens Drive for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive male who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

The identities of the shooting victims and other information, including any potential connection between the handgun theft on Clay Street and the shooting on Bens Drive, are not yet available.

In a statement to Report Annapolis News, a spokesperson for Governor Wes Moore said "Governor Moore mourns the tragic loss of life and maintains the utmost faith in the Annapolis Police Department to bring the people perpetuating these crimes to justice."
