Coalition for Atonement & Repair to Host Annapolis City Council Candidate Forum on Reparative Justice at The Historic First Baptist Church on August 2

Details have been announced about an upcoming Annapolis City Council candidate forum hosted by the Coalition for Atonement & Repair (CAR), focusing on reparative justice.

According to forum organizers, the event aims to address systemic inequities and explore solutions centered on healing, accountability, and pathways to repair. The forum will feature moderated questions, community testimony, and timed candidate responses to proposals for municipal action. Topics will include economic equity, criminal justice reform, and community reconciliation. On-site voter registration will also be available.

The forum will be held at the historic First Baptist Church, located at 31 West Washington Street in Annapolis, on August 2, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Doors will open at 2:30 PM, providing an opportunity for community members to share their concerns, aspirations for solutions, and expectations for leadership and accountability.

The forum will be moderated by Reverend Dr. Mark A. Wainwright, the current Pastor at First Baptist Church and a CAR member. Panelists will include reparative justice experts and community advocates.
