Funeral Ceremony Held for Woman Murdered by Husband at Odenton Bus Station

A funeral service for Monyette Marie Stephenson was held just eight days after she was fatally shot by her husband outside an Odenton Bus Service. Her husband subsequently took his own life at a rest stop in New Jersey. 

On June 16, 2025, at approximately 10:13 am, officers responded to a shooting report at the Smith Bus Service, located at 1800 Bucklina Ave in Odenton. Upon arrival, officers found 45 year old Monyette Stephenson with a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Service personnel responded and pronounced her deceased.

Detectives investigating the incident obtained and reviewed video surveillance footage, identifying the shooter as Trimall Stephenson, an employee at the bus service and the estranged husband of the victim, Monyette. Trimall Stephenson, 48, was subsequently located by law enforcement at a rest stop in Hamilton, New Jersey. As Troopers from the New Jersey State Police approached the vehicle, Trimall Stephenson turned a firearm on himself and ended his own life. 

A funeral service was held in Windsor Mill on June 24, 2025. Monyette was a bright and loving soul whose presence left a lasting imprint on all who knew her, according to her online obituary. "Her love for her family was unwavering, and she was selfless, strong, optimistic, and deeply kindhearted. Her positivity lit up every room she entered, and her resilience inspired those around her," the obituary said.

Additional details, including possible motive, have yet to be disclosed publicly.
