Annapolis Fire Department Honors Fallen Firefighter on 67th Anniversary of Line-of-Duty Death

The Annapolis Fire Department honored the legacy of Firefighter Alexander C. Johnson today, marking 67 years since his tragic death in the line of duty.

According to an online tribute, Firefighter Johnson, who was 42 at the time, passed away on July 13, 1958, due to an apparent heart attack. He had reportedly responded to a kerosene stove fire on Shaw Street and later went home when he felt unwell. In addition to his full-time position with the Naval Academy Fire Department, Johnson also worked with Rescue Hose Company #1 in Annapolis, as stated by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Roll of Honor.
Firefighter Johnson's bravery and sacrifice were remembered by the fire department at a graveside memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony.
