"If I'm fired, we are all fired:" Man to Stand Trial in the Anne Arundel Circuit Court for Allegedly Setting Fire to Pasadena Restaurant Where He Worked Before Being Terminated Due to Workplace Dispute
A 37-year-old man is currently awaiting trial in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court, facing charges for allegedly setting fire to the Wendy's restaurant where he was employed. This incident reportedly occurred shortly after his termination following a workplace dispute.
According to documents obtained by Report Annapolis News, the fire was intentionally set at the Wendy's located at 8098 Edwin Raynor Boulevard in Pasadena on Sunday, May 5, 2025, shortly after 2:00 AM. The investigation revealed that an altercation had occurred at the restaurant several hours prior to the fire. Witnesses reported that employee Hugh Brown was terminated after the altercation, and he was subsequently heard stating, "If I'm fired, we're all fired," as per court documents.
The documents further allege that on June 2, 2025, Mr. Brown admitted to an investigator that he created a device, ignited it, and tossed it onto the roof, expressing that he was "just trying to scare the employees." On June 27, 2025, a grand jury indicted Mr. Brown on 10 arson-related charges, including 6 felonies. Mr. Brown is currently being held without bond at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on Jennifer Road in Annapolis.
A trial date has not yet been scheduled.
