County Police Department Makes Arrest in Connection with Glen Burnie High School Student Homicide
The Anne Arundel County Police Department today announced the arrest of minor from Howard County in connection with the death of Jonathan Guiliani.
On Sunday, May 4, 2025, officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 800 block of Aquahart Road. They found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound. Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim, Jonathan Benjamin Guiliani of Glen Burnie, deceased at the scene. Guiliani was laid to rest on Friday, May 9, following a celebration of life held by family and friends.
As a senior at Glen Burnie High School, Guiliani showcased impressive athleticism, according to an online obituary. The obituary said Jonathan was fervent about the outdoors, playing football, riding his bike, putting time in the gym and spending time with his friends, family and cat, Oliver. Jonny, as he was known affectionately, attended Arundel Christian Church and highly anticipated their Sunday Service every week.
Department officials said that detectives identified the suspect as 17-year-old Mactouko Ryan, of Elkridge, Maryland. On July 22, 2025, homicide investigators located and arrested Ryan, charging him as an adult with the murder of Jonathan Guiliani.
The incident started as a robbery of the victim and another person, who was not injured. Other individuals were involved at the scene, and detectives are continuing their investigation to identify them, a source told Report Annapolis News.
In a statement to Report Annapolis News, Defense Attorney Vernon Brownlee declined to comment on the case specifics, instead offering condolences to the bereaved family and expressing faith in the judicial system. 'I offer my sincerest condolences to the family,' Attorney Brownlee stated. 'I have great faith in the judicial system, founded on the United States Constitution, which presumes innocence until guilt is proven in a court of law.'
