GoFundMe Set Up as Community Rallies Behind Family Devastated by Edgewater Home Fire

An online fundraiser has been established as a close knit Edgewater community rallies behind a family that was recently devastated by a home fire.

According to the GoFundme page description for "Help the Kelloggs," monies donated will go towards various needs and expenses for the family of Nathan and Julie Kelloggs. The family home was severely damaged in a fire that remains under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. "Please consider donating to help the Kelloggs get back on their feet. On Tuesday, March 29th, a propane tank exploded near the rear of the home, and within moments the entire home was engulfed in flames," the organizer Matt Mueller said in the page description.  "The family and the dogs were able to escape the fire, however, the cat's status is still unknown. Everything within the home is a complete loss, in addition to the family vehicle and boat that were parked just outside the home."

As of 9:30pm on March 27, nearly $3,400 had been raised.

In a statement issued by the fire department, officials said units responded to 911 calls reporting a dwelling fire.  "First arriving firefighters reported a fire on the exterior back of the home that had extended into the attic space. Firefighters brought the fire under control in one hour," officials wrote.

There were no injuries sustained by occupants or responders. The fire caused an estimated $187,500 in damages, fire department officials reported.
