Ward One Alderman Harry Huntley Announces State Delegation Backing for Re-Election, Introduces New Support Webpage
According to an announcement regarding Ward One Alderman Harry M. Huntley's bid for re-election, Annapolis's full delegation in the State House, including Senator Shaneka Henson, Delegate Dana Jones, and Delegate Dylan Behler (a Ward One resident), has jointly endorsed his campaign. Alderman Huntley is currently facing a crowded field of challengers in the September primary.
The statement said that District 30 Senator Shaneka Henson highlighted Alderman Huntley's profound care for our community, his attentiveness to neighbors, and his proactive approach to addressing the needs of Annapolis. She noted her impression of his "Let's make it happen!" attitude towards improving city government, drawing on her own experience on the city council.
District 30A Delegate Dana Jones underscored Harry's enduring dedication and results-driven problem-solving abilities, evident even prior to his tenure as Alderman. She characterized Huntley as an honest individual deeply committed to Annapolis, consistently striving to enhance our communities. During her time on the city council, she has observed his passion and energy in tackling challenging issues and his effectiveness in fostering consensus to advance the city. Delegate Jones opined that Alderman Huntley is a selfless public servant who embodies Democratic values and is the leader Ward One requires.
District 30A Delegate and Ward One resident Dylan Behler shared his experience working closely with Harry on policies aimed at cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay and building more resilient communities, commending his thoughtfulness and effectiveness as a legislator. As a downtown resident, he expressed his enthusiasm for Harry representing him as alderman and encouraged others to support him.
Alderman Huntley has also garnered endorsements from Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth, County Executive Steuart Pittman, County Councilwoman Lisa Rodvien, School Board Representative Joanna Tobin, Mayor Gavin Buckley, mayoral candidate Jared Littmann, and six of his colleagues on the city council.
A comprehensive list of his endorsements is available on his newly launched webpage: [HarryMHuntley.com/endorsements.
In response to these endorsements, Harry M. Huntley stated, "From Congress to community associations and everywhere in between, the people we've trusted to lead us are unanimous: I'm the one to make it happen! Because Ward One is the seat of county and state government, partnership with other levels of government is especially important here for even the most basic issues, like fixing sidewalks."
Alderman Huntley was appointed last September to complete the term of former Alderwoman Elly Tierney, and since his appointment, he has introduced or passed legislation focused on enhancing sidewalk safety, capping the density of short-term rentals, and promoting transparency in campaign finances, among other key initiatives.
The primary election is scheduled for September 16, and with a crowded field of challengers, it is crucial to confirm your voter registration by August 18. Residents interested in adding their name to the growing list of supporters are invited to visit [HarryMHuntley.com/support].
