County Executive Pittman and Federal Leaders Celebrate Grand Opening of Nonprofit Center at Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park

Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman, alongside federal, state, and local leaders, nonprofit partners, and community stakeholders, participated in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony today at the Nonprofit Center at Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park.

The newly renovated Nonprofit Center, located at 41 Community Place on the historic Crownsville campus, is integral to the County's long-term vision of transforming the site into a space dedicated to healing, wellness, and community connection. This facility provides nonprofit organizations with no-cost and low-cost space, as well as in-person and virtual support services, to enhance their operations and impact across the county. County Executive Steuart Pittman stated, "We created the Nonprofit Center to support the people who support our communities. This Center will bring organizations together under one roof to build a stronger, more connected Anne Arundel County."

Established in 2023 with support from Anne Arundel County and federal earmarks, the Nonprofit Center has initiated various programs to bolster local nonprofits in their efforts to improve residents' health and wellness. These initiatives include workshops on fundraising, sustainability, strategic planning, and grant writing, an online tool to connect residents with local organizations, a full-day nonprofit conference, and a partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Libraries to expand access to GuideStar’s Candid database. Jennifer Purcell, Executive Director of the Nonprofit Center, commented, "Everyday nonprofits in Anne Arundel County are doing the hard work of caring for our neighbors. By bringing organizations together and providing the tools they need to grow and collaborate, we’re helping build a stronger support system for the residents of Anne Arundel County." Today's ceremony featured remarks from elected officials and partner organizations, a facility tour, and introductions to the first resident nonprofits.

The Center is also part of a larger county initiative to re-envision Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park as a vibrant, inclusive public space. Future plans for the site encompass housing, expanded mental health services, trails, and historic preservation initiatives.
