Raid in Annapolis Allegedly Results in Seizure of Over $100K in Narcotics, Nearly $70K in Currency, and Multiple BMW Automobiles

A recent operation in Annapolis allegedly recovered more than $100k in illegal drugs, $70k in cash and multiple BMW vehicles, law enforcement sources said this week.

According to an announcement made by the Annapolis Police Department, a seven-month investigation into illegal drug activity in the Oaklawn Avenue and Carver Street area resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of illegal drugs, with an estimated street value exceeding $100,000, and over $69,000 in cash.

Police department officials stated "Timothy Charles Johnson, 35, the primary subject of this investigation, was arrested on the morning of August 14. Members of the APD's Special Investigations Section and Patrol Division conducted a coordinated operation in the designated area, leading to Johnson's apprehension on multiple CDS-related indictments. Additionally, Jesse Brocenbeau Smith, 56, was taken into custody without incident, facing indictments for his involvement in the drug distribution network."

Officials stated in the release that search and seizure warrants were executed at two locations: 2024 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD, and 2109 Piney Branch Circle, Hanover, MD. "Beyond the drugs and currency, two vehicles were also seized: a BMW X-3 (SUV) and a BMW 750 Li sedan. Timothy Johnson is expected to face additional charges as a result of this ongoing investigation and subsequent arrests."

Johnson and Smith, both Annapolis residents, were ordered to be held without bond during a hearing at the District Court on Rowe Boulevard, court records show.
