Courtney Buiniskis Declares Candidacy for Register of Wills in Anne Arundel County with Several Endorsements

Courtney Buiniskis, a lifelong resident of Southern Anne Arundel County, educator, and public servant, has officially filed her candidacy for Register of Wills in Anne Arundel County for the 2026 election. Her candidacy is endorsed by County Executive Steuart Pittman, Sheriff Everett Sesker, Clerk of the Circuit Court Scott Poyer, Senator Dawn Gile of District 33, Senator Shaneka Henson of District 30, Delegate Mike Rogers of District 32, County Council Vice Chair Lisa Rodvien, and County Council Chair Julie Hummer.

With over a decade of experience in education, county government, and community advocacy, Ms. Buiniskis is committed to a people-first vision for the office. This vision focuses on transparency, accessibility, and community outreach, while simultaneously preserving the legacies of Anne Arundel’s families. Ms. Buiniskis stated, "The Register of Wills is more than just paperwork—it’s about helping families through some of the most difficult times in their lives. I’m running to ensure that every resident has access to fair, compassionate, and efficient services, and understands what the office can do for Anne Arundel County residents. Every resident deserves dignity and clarity when navigating the probate process.”

Ms. Buiniskis intends to prioritize modernizing the office, strengthening outreach efforts, upholding strong ethical standards, and ensuring all communities, especially underserved ones, receive the necessary information and support. Her extensive experience includes serving as a Community Engagement Officer for County Executive Pittman and as a Legislative Aide to County Councilwoman Lisa Rodvien. Additionally, she is the Vice Chair of the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee and an Adjunct Professor at Anne Arundel Community College, where she played a role in establishing a union for faculty members. Ms. Buiniskis added, “I’ve worked at the highest levels of county government and in the classroom—I know what it means to listen, solve problems, and serve. It’s time we bring that same spirit to the Register of Wills office, and I’m proud to have the support of leaders in our county—including the Sheriff and Clerk of the Court, the offices with which the Register of Wills collaborates most closely.”

Countywide elected officials have expressed enthusiastic support for Ms. Buiniskis’ campaign. County Executive Steuart Pittman commented, “Courtney Buiniskis will bring professionalism and integrity to the office of Register of Wills. When she says, ‘Your Legacy Matters,’ she means it. I watched Courtney build a union of her fellow adjunct professors at the Community College, watched her campaign for Delegate from her south county district, watched her serve county residents in my office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services, and watched her as Legislative Aide to Councilwoman Rodvien. In each setting, the strength and goodness of Courtney’s spirit was infectious. Anne Arundel County needs Courtney Buiniskis to be its next Register of Wills, and I enthusiastically endorse her campaign to get there.” Sheriff Everett Sesker stated, “Courtney Buiniskis exemplifies a good leader who has a passion to serve and understands the needs of our community. Let’s start a new chapter in the Register of Wills office with a vote for Courtney Buiniskis.” “I endorse Courtney Buiniskis for Register of Wills because of her unwavering integrity and record of service to the people of Anne Arundel County,” said County Clerk of the Circuit Court Scott Poyer. Ms. Buiniskis is community-focused and driven and plans to connect with residents across the county at various community events and through door-knocking in the coming months.
