Glen Burnie Area Educator Dies, Remembered for Being Passionate About Teaching

A well-known Glen Burnie area educator has died, and is being remembered for being passionate about teaching. 

According to an online obituary, Jennifer Jill Seerey, of Severna Park, passed away at home on September 21, 2021, surrounded by her family.  She was 54. 

"For the past three years, Jen was a Special Education Teacher at George Cromwell Elementary School in Glen Burnie," the obituary said.  "Her first teaching job was at The Ridge school in Rockville, Maryland, teaching math and science. She taught math and religion for many years at Monsignor Slade Catholic School in Glen Burnie."

Jen reportedly loved spending time at the Eastport Yacht Club and participated in many of the annual Lights Parades often dressed as Mrs. Claus in a towed Zodiac sleigh. She was known for her compassionate nature, sense of humor, adventurous spirit, curiosity, and eagerness to help and serve others. 

Jen is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Sean Seerey, of Severna Park; her daughters Meghan and Maggie, along with a host of other family, friends and colleagues. 

Visitation will be held on Friday October 1 at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis MD 21401 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis MD 21401 at 9 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jen’s honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
