Neva Stansbury, Longtime Bates Middle School Secretary, Named AACPS October Employee of the Month

Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) has honored Neva Stansbury of Wiley H. Bates Middle School in Annapolis as the October Employee of the Month, recognizing her dedication, passion, and outstanding service to students and staff alike.

Stansbury, who serves as a key member of the Bates Middle School Community, was spotlighted by AACPS for going above and beyond her daily responsibilities. Her recognition reflects the school system’s ongoing efforts to celebrate staff who demonstrate excellence and embody the values of AACPS.

In a statement, AACPS congratulated Stansbury, saying, “Congratulations to Neva Stansbury of Wiley H. Bates Middle School, AACPS’ October Employee of the Month!” Colleagues and students at Bates Middle describe Stansbury, the Principal's Secretary, as a reliable, compassionate, and inspiring presence in the school.

Wiley H. Bates Middle School, located in Annapolis, serves as both an academic institution and a performing and visual arts magnet school. It is well known for fostering a positive learning environment — something Stansbury has played an integral role in maintaining for many years. 

The Employee of the Month award is part of AACPS’s broader initiative to recognize staff contributions across its school system, one of the largest in Maryland, serving over 80,000 students.
