Senator Shaneka Henson Celebrates Exum Youth Day in Annapolis

Senator Shaneka Henson celebrated a day of learning and inspiration today at the Senator Nathaniel Exum Youth Day in Annapolis, hosted by the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.

The Senator Nathaniel Exum Youth Day took place on October 11, 2025, at the Maryland General Assembly Campus. The annual event is for middle and high school students to learn about the legislative process and civic engagement. 

Henson wrote on social media, “What a great time we had at the Senator Nathaniel Exum Youth Day in Annapolis, hosted by the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland! It was inspiring to see so many bright young people engaging with their state leaders, learning about government, and celebrating the legacy of Senator Exum’s commitment to empowering the next generation. Days like this remind us that Maryland’s future is in good hands!”

The event gave young people an opportunity for students to learn about the legislative process, power of civic engagement and to participate in practical exercises regarding how the Maryland General Assembly operates, according to the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.
