Faith & Blue: Anne Arundel County Police Department, Maryland State Police Join Congregation Kol Shalom to Strengthen Community Connections

Anne Arundel County Police Officers and Troopers with the Maryland State Police joined members of Congregation Kol Shalom this weekend as part of the Faith & Blue initiative, which aims to “foster understanding and build stronger connections between our faith-based organizations and local law enforcement.”

According to the department, “We had such a fantastic time meeting members of the congregation and strengthening the bonds within our community.”

The event, hosted by Rabbi Faith Cantor, took place during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, a time of gratitude and community celebration. Officers shared a meal with congregants in the synagogue’s outdoor Sukkah, an experience the department described as “truly special.”

“It was truly a special experience to share a meal with you all in the beautiful Sukkah during the celebration of Sukkot,” the department said in a statement. “Wishing everyone a joyful rest of the holiday!”

Organizers highlighted that the Faith & Blue weekend is “all about fostering understanding and building stronger connections between our faith-based organizations and local law enforcement.”

The department added, “We believe in coming together to strengthen our community bonds.”

Residents are encouraged to attend remaining Faith & Blue events across the region.

"Faith & Blue was launched to facilitate safer, stronger, more just and unified communities by directly enabling local partnerships among law enforcement professionals, residents, businesses and community groups through the connections of local faith-based organizations," the MovementForward website said. "MovementForward, Inc. is a modern, inclusive social change organization working to protect, promote, and advance the civil and human rights of all people."
