Annapolis Republican Party Hosts Gathering to Rally Support for the 2025 City Council Slate

The Annapolis Republican Central Committee hosted an event this week rallying support for the Annapolis Republican 2025 Slate. This slate includes Bobby O’Shea for Mayor, Ken Vincent for Ward 2, Jack Papaleonti for Ward 5, and George Gallagher for Ward 6.
The press release noted that former Governor Bob Ehrlich attended to endorse the slate, and former Maryland GOP Chairman Dirk Haire sponsored attendance for 25 Maryland Young Republicans. Local political leaders, business figures, and civic representatives were also present.
“There hasn’t been an event like this in Annapolis in the last century — and maybe ever,” one attendee said, according to the press release.
According to the announcement, the evening featured Maryland flags, locally donated food, handcrafted cocktails, and music from DJ Ben McNulty, creating a lively atmosphere. Attendees said the event also demonstrated Republican presence in a city historically led by Democrats.

“There are more of us than you’d imagine in a town run by only Dems,” one participant said, the release said.

Governor Ehrlich’s stage entrance was timed to “Hail to the Chief,” receiving a standing ovation, the announcement said.

The press release emphasized that The Annapolis Slate is focused on “making Annapolis affordable, safe, reducing waste & overdevelopment, and preserving Annapolis City’s historic character for the next generation.”

“The event showcased party unity, pride of country, state & city, and passion that make Annapolis…one of Maryland’s most dynamic diverse communities — and proved that when this city comes together, the result is unforgettable,” said Suzanne Duffy, spokesperson for the Annapolis Republican Central Committee, the release said.

The announcement concluded that the Committee will continue recruiting, supporting, and fundraising for Republican candidates seeking local office in Annapolis.
