Skate Zone Expands to Odenton, Continuing the Tradition of Roller Skating
Skate Zone, the popular roller skating destination based in Crofton, has announced the acquisition of the former Wheels roller rink, located at 1200 Odenton Road in Odenton.
In a press release, owners Rob and Wendy Sherman described this as a continuation of the region’s long-standing skating tradition. "Roller skating is more than just a pastime — it’s part of our local culture," the Shermans stated in the release. "We’re honored to continue the legacy that Wheels built in Odenton, and we’re committed to preserving that nostalgic skating experience while bringing in fresh energy, new programs, and modern amenities."
For five decades, Skate Zone has been a community hub in Crofton, recognized for its family-friendly atmosphere, school fundraisers, themed events, and strong local partnerships. The expansion into Odenton, according to the announcement, aligns with the company’s mission to "provide a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all ages to stay active, celebrate, and make memories on wheels."
Plans for the new Odenton rink include facility updates, themed skate nights, family sessions, birthday parties, and special community events, all designed to maintain the welcoming spirit that has characterized Skate Zone’s Crofton location.
"We’re not just opening another rink," Rob Sherman said. "We’re continuing a tradition — one that generations have loved and new skaters will soon discover."
