Coalition for Atonement & Repair and Capitol Accountability Project Endorse Diesha Contee for Annapolis City Council, Ward 6
The Coalition for Atonement & Repair (CAR) and the Capitol Accountability Project (CAP) have jointly endorsed Diesha Contee for the Annapolis City Council, Ward 6. Both organizations emphasized Ms. Contee's profound commitment to youth, seniors, and historically underrepresented residents, highlighting her dedication to truth, transparency, and equitable governance across all city wards.
Eliza Mae Robinson, a respected CAR member, community activist, author, and descendant of Annapolis’ historic Old Fourth Ward, shared her perspective: “Diesha represents a new generation of leadership — one that honors the past while building a more just and united future. She listens with empathy, leads with purpose, and understands that true repair begins with truth.” Ms. Robinson, for whom a local recreation center is named, further added that she views Ms. Contee’s campaign as an extension of the city’s legacy of resilience: “The real legacy I hope to see is a city that invests in its people — its children, its elders, and the very descendants who built it. Diesha carries that same vision in her heart, and I am proud to stand beside her.”
These sentiments were echoed by Argo Duenas, CAR co-founder, who described Ms. Contee’s leadership is “grounded in community and compassion.” Mr. Duenas remarked, “Diesha isn’t a politician chasing power; she’s a neighbor with heart. She listens, she shows up, and she fights for the people who are too often unheard. Her commitment to youth, seniors, and community repair comes from lived experience and love for this city. I believe in Diesha because she believes in us.”
Ahsun Powell, Co-Founder and President of the Capitol Accountability Project and Strategist for the Coalition for Atonement & Repair, further characterized Ms. Contee as a leader who “embodies the values Annapolis needs right now.” Mr. Powell added, “She leads with compassion, humility, and strength — qualities our communities have been longing to see in City Hall. Diesha shows up. She listens. She’s unafraid to speak truth to power, and she stands for the people who’ve been overlooked for too long.” Ms. Contee, a lifelong Annapolis resident, has centered her campaign on community voice, policy accountability, and shared growth, with supporters describing her efforts as part of a broader movement to foster a stronger connection between City Hall and its citizens.
