Eastport Volunteer Fire Company Facilitates Life-Saving Training Night for Area Community Groups

The Eastport Volunteer Fire Company (EVFC) continued to demonstrate its commitment to community safety and outreach through the hosting of a hands-on training session for local partners and AED equipment initiative recipients.

The event brought together representatives from John Wesley United Methodist Church, the newest recipient in EVFC’s Automated External Defibrillator (AED) equipment program, alongside past recipients including Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and Chesapeake Regional Accessible Sailing (CRAB).

In partnership with the Annapolis Fire Department, participants received instruction in hands-only CPR, AED use, and the administration of Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal medication. The training aimed to ensure that more community members are equipped to respond confidently and effectively during medical emergencies.

“This program is about empowering our neighbors with the tools and knowledge to save lives,” said an EVFC Facebook post. “Our collaboration with the Annapolis Fire Department helps ensure the highest level of training for everyone involved.”

The AED Initiative, led by EVFC, provides local organizations with life-saving equipment and education to strengthen the chain of survival throughout the Annapolis area.

EVFC thanked all participants, recipients, and the Annapolis Fire Department for their continued partnership and dedication to community safety.
