Annapolis Police Department Announces Success of Inaugural 'Rooted in Resilience' Retreat for Families Affected by Gun Violence

The Annapolis Police Department has announced its inaugural "Rooted in Resilience" retreat, which was held last Saturday. Coordinated by the department's community outreach team, the event was specifically designed to support families impacted by gun violence in Annapolis neighborhoods. 

The retreat provided a serene environment where residents had a safe and supportive space to voice their concerns, share experiences, and collaborate on ideas for strengthening community safety.

Police officials emphasized that the objective extended beyond simple listening; the goal was to foster meaningful partnerships that will guide long-term violence-prevention efforts. The retreat included facilitated conversations, workshops, outdoor activities, and access to professional counselors. Organizers reported that the event exceeded expectations, effectively strengthening relationships between residents and officers while providing families with a critical moment of reprieve and community bonding. 

The department expressed gratitude to its Community Outreach Team and community partners, including Anne Arundel County Crisis Response Services, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, and the Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis.
