Carolyn Aldridge, 55, of Crofton, Charged in Two Alleged Felony Theft Schemes, Office of the Attorney General Says

Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced today that the Anne Arundel County Grand Jury has indicted Carolyn Rae Aldridge, 55, of Crofton, Maryland, on two separate felony theft schemes. The investigation was led by the Attorney General’s Criminal Division Fraud and Corruption Unit.

Attorney General Brown stated, "Stealing from an employer—whether a private business or a state-created entity like MAIF—is not just theft, it’s a betrayal of trust that harms coworkers, undermines public confidence, and erodes the integrity of institutions that serve Marylanders. When individuals exploit their positions for personal gain, they will be identified, investigated, and prosecuted. No one is above accountability.”

The first indictment alleges that between August 2017 and January 2021, Aldridge stole 96 checks totaling $173,004.43 from a home improvement and general contracting company. Aldridge, who worked as the office manager, allegedly used her position to deposit these checks into her personal bank account without authorization.

The second indictment alleges that between January 2020 and February 2021, Aldridge stole 13 additional checks totaling $12,291.85 from the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund (MAIF). Aldridge allegedly stole these checks while working as a part-time contractual associate in MAIF's fiscal department and deposited them into her personal bank account without authorization.
