Man, 30, Receives Jail Sentence Following Guilty Plea for Domestic Assault on Tyler Avenue in Annapolis
On June 16, 2025, a 30-year-old man was sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree assault against a woman in Annapolis.
Charging documents detail that on November 30, 2024, officers from the Annapolis Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they made contact with the adult female victim, who reported that Trenard Lewis had assaulted her several times over the preceding days. The charging documents state that "Mr. Lewis gets jealous and doesn't like it when she leaves the house because he believes she is trying to get attention from other men." An assault on November 30 preceded the 911 call for a welfare check made by a family member, as noted by the investigating officer in the statement of charges obtained by Report Annapolis News.
In a petition for a protective order filed the same day in the Glen Burnie District Court, the victim stated that Mr. Lewis's anger escalated as she refuted his claims of her seeking attention from other men. The petition further indicates that this escalation led to her being assaulted multiple times over a period of days.
According to court records, Mr. Lewis received a 15-year sentence, with all but 18 months suspended, and will serve a five-year period of supervised probation upon his release.
