Mega Millions Player from Anne Arundel County Scores $40,020 After Buying Ticket at Hanover Tiger Mart

A dedicated Maryland Lottery player recently celebrated a significant win, taking home $40,020 in Mega Millions. This government employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on June 11 to share his exciting news and reflect on his years of playing that finally paid off.

For this veteran player, what began as a casual hobby has evolved into a regular routine of purchasing tickets every two weeks. He shared, "I’ve been playing for more than two decades. Mega Millions and Powerball are the games I enjoy playing the most." On a recent Sunday, he stopped by his preferred retailer, Exxon at the Mills (7671 Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover), to scan several tickets he had bought in May. One ticket displayed the exciting message: "Winner, take to Lottery." He immediately knew it was a substantial win.

"As soon as I saw that message, I knew it meant something big," he explained. "But when I found out it was $40,020, the most I’ve ever won, I was in disbelief. I really felt lucky." He plans to use his winnings to pay off bills and invest in home renovations, with a particular focus on upgrading his bathroom.
