Scuffle Broke Out After Victim Disarmed Suspect During Unsuccessful Robbery Attempt Later Characterized as a Prank Gone Wrong in Odenton, Police Report

According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, an attempted robbery occurred this morning, which turned physical and ended with the alleged victim disarming the suspect, who subsequently referred to the incident as a prank.

Department officials stated that at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Cadbury Drive regarding a report of an attempted citizen robbery. The victim reported that while sitting on his front porch and using his phone, he was approached by a male suspect who pointed what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money.

A physical altercation ensued, during which the victim disarmed the suspect. Officers arrived and located the suspect, identified as Robert John Fetz, a 35-year-old resident of Odenton, who admitted to pointing a BB gun at the victim as part of a prank, the police department said.

 A BB gun was recovered, and Mr. Fetz was arrested and charged accordingly.
