New Rental Aid Program Announced for Anne Arundel County Families With Children in Local Schools

The Partnership for Children, Youth and Families has launched a Rental Assistance Program to provide “critical assistance to families with children enrolled in one of Anne Arundel County’s Community Schools,” according to information published on the website.

The program supports families with children in Anne Arundel County’s Community Schools who are facing housing instability or homelessness. Funded by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, it covers rental arrears, overdue utility bills, security deposits, first month's rent, and moving expenses for unhoused or unsafe housing situations.

To qualify, applicants must have a child enrolled in an Anne Arundel County School and provide proof of enrollment, residence, bills, and income.

Due to high demand, new applications are waitlisted. Priority is given to cases with pending evictions, utility disconnection notices, or those meeting the McKinney-Vento definition of homelessness. Applications are processed chronologically once all information is submitted and funds are available. According to  the National Center for Homeless Education,
