Moore Administration Announces FY 2027 Budget Focused on Schools, Safety, and Affordability
Maryland Governor Wes Moore has signed Maryland’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget into law, according to a press release from his office, highlighting investments in education and public safety while maintaining no new taxes or fees.
The budget, which can be found in the text version here, passed with bipartisan support from the Maryland General Assembly, is described by the administration as a plan to lower costs and strengthen the state’s economy. Officials say it keeps the Rainy Day Fund at 8% and maintains a $250 million fund balance.
According to the release, the budget includes more than $300 million for clean energy programs and $100 million in utility relief, along with continued funding for child care scholarships and anti-poverty initiatives.
The administration also reports record funding for law enforcement, investments in youth programs, and more than $35 million for correctional facility improvements.
The plan includes a $10.1 billion investment in K-12 education and over $100 million in business tax cuts. It also highlights continued investment in quantum research tied to the University of Maryland.
State leaders say the budget reflects bipartisan cooperation and long-term economic priorities.
