Authorities Identify Michael Hayes, 27, of Glen Burnie, as Decedent in Recent Homicide Investigation

Law enforcement authorities have identified 27 year old Glen Burnie resident Michael Joseph Hayes as the decedent in a recent homicide investigation.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department states their officers responded at approximately 9:15 p.m. on April 18, 2026, to the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, emergency medical personnel located Mr. Hayes and rendered life-saving measures before he was transported to an area trauma center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Police said the alleged suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody pending the outcome of the investigation. 

According to investigators, Mr. Hayes had been at the location earlier in the evening. During what authorities described as his final visit, he became involved in a physical altercation in a parking lot with the suspect. During that altercation, the alleged suspect "produced a firearm and shot the decedent,” officials said.

Police have arrested 32-year-old Baltimore resident Ioannis Georgios Giorgakis, who remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, in connection with the reported shooting.
