Gloria Dent Elected as President of the Board of Education; Dawn Pulliam Named as Vice President
Gloria Dent has been elected president and Dawn Pulliam vice president of the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County for the coming year, according to a statement from Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
As stated in the release, Dent was appointed to the Board in September 2021 to represent Councilmanic District 1 following the death of Candace C.W. Antwine. She was elected to a four-year term in 2024. Pulliam, who represents District 7, was also elected to a four-year term in 2024. Dent and Pulliam will serve one-year terms in their respective officer roles, the release said.
The Board is composed of seven elected adult members and one student member. In addition to Dent and Pulliam, current members include Robert Silkworth (District 2), Erica McFarland (District 3), Sarah J. McDermott (District 4), Dana Schallheim (District 5), Dr. Joanna Tobin (District 6), and Student Member Brayden Morgan of Glen Burnie High School.
Really glad to see Gloria Dent taking on the role of president. Strong leadership in a school district makes such a difference for students and families. It’s also interesting to watch how education systems evolve with new board members stepping into key positions. I follow education trends for my own studies and sometimes I read discussions on sites like take my course for me just to see how people talk about academic challenges. Big changes always spark conversation.
