Maryland State Highway Administration Launches Summer US 50 Ramp Management Schedule in Anne Arundel County
The State Highway Administration has advised of upcoming periodic, temporary closures affecting the Oceanic Drive (Exit 32) on-ramp to eastbound US 50/US 301 (John Hanson Highway) near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. These closures are a component of the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration's ongoing initiatives to enhance traffic flow and safety during peak summer travel periods within the Broadneck Peninsula of Anne Arundel County.
Commencing on Friday, May 16, and continuing through Saturday, August 30, the aforementioned on-ramp will be closed every Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
During these designated closure times, motorists intending to access eastbound US 50/US 301 will need to utilize either Exit 29 (MD 179 at Busch’s Frontage Road) or Exit 30 (Whitehall Road). If your regular route involves the service roads, kindly note that access to eastbound US 50/US 301 will require proceeding to either Exit 29 or Exit 30 during the closure periods.
To assist motorists, detour signage and portable variable message signs will be strategically placed along connecting state routes. Furthermore, the State Highway Administration will be actively monitoring traffic conditions throughout this period and will implement adjustments as deemed necessary.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that the State Highway Administration has implemented this ramp management project in Anne Arundel County.
