There appears to be some ambiguity surrounding the project's progression, as there has been no response from city leaders regarding its advancement.
The City of Annapolis was awarded a $200,000 "Community Legacy" grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development in December 2020. These funds were specifically intended for the revitalization of the public water access park at Clay Street, with the aim of dedicating it as "Robert Eades Park." The total projected expenditure for this undertaking is $483,500, encompassing $56,000 for design and $404,500 for construction.
Recent communications with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development have clarified that while they supplied the grant funding to the City of Annapolis through the Fiscal Year 2022 Community Legacy Program, the city bears the responsibility for the management and implementation of the Robert Eades Park project. The department has suggested that all inquiries concerning the project's construction and schedule be directed to the City of Annapolis.
"The City of Annapolis is responsible for the management and execution of the Robert Eades Park project. Please reach out to the City of Annapolis with questions regarding the project construction and timeline," a state spokesperson said.
Notwithstanding these clarifications, there has been no response from city officials to requests for information or updates regarding the status of this significant project.
