Baltimore Man, 21, Given 10-Year Sentence in Connection with Brooklyn Park Mass Shooting that Took Life of Glen Burnie High School Graduate

A 21-year-old Baltimore man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with the 2023 Brooklyn Park shooting that left a Glen Burnie High School graduate and one other person dead.

Tristan Jackson (pictured above) pleaded guilty in Baltimore Circuit Court earlier this year to a second-degree assault charge, in addition to use of a firearm in a violent crime, minor in possession of a firearm, and related charges. Jackson was sentenced last week to 45 years, suspending all but 10 years of incarceration.

On July 2, 2023, at approximately 12:35 a.m., officers responded to 800 block of Gretna Court for multiple calls of a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located multiple shooting victims. There were reportedly more than 30 total shooting victims found.

Nine victims were transported from the scene to local hospitals, and at least 20 victims walked into area hospitals across the region and an 18-year-old female, Aaliyah Gonzalez (pictured below) was pronounced deceased on scene. Kylis Fagbemi, 20, died at an area hospital a short time later.

"Aaliyah was a quiet student who was proud of her academic achievements. She made the honor roll in every marking period this year and was looking forward to a bright future," Glen Burnie High Principal Carr wrote in a letter to families after the shooting occured.
