Maryland State Police Arrest DC Officer Residing in Annapolis Following Allegations of Firearm-Involved Road Rage
According to state police officials, Kalia Crews, who remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, was charged with first and second-degree assault and use of a firearm in a felony crime, in connection with an incident which allegedly occurred on December 18, 2025.
Troopers from the Maryland State Police Annapolis Barrack reportedly responded to westbound U.S. Route 50, in the area of I-97, for a report of an alleged road rage incident. The accuser told troopers that an individual brandished a crowbar and then a firearm, during an alleged road-rage incident on Route 50, a press release states.
"Troopers working the Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crime Initiative assumed the investigation and subsequently identified Crews as the suspect," authorities wrote. "On December 31, she was arrested by members of the Maryland State Police near her residence. Police served a search warrant on her vehicle and a loaded firearm in a backpack on the front passenger seat was recovered. "
In a statement to Report Annapolis News, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department said Crews, who is shown in an agency recruitment video shown below, is on administrative leave. "MPD cannot comment on active internal investigations and personnel matters," said the spokesperson.
According to court records, Crews was released after being processed by a court commissioner.
