Longtime Prosecutor Carolynn Grammas Launches Campaign for Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney

Carolynn Grammas, a veteran Maryland prosecutor with more than 25 years of experience, has officially launched her campaign for Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney, according to a press release issued by the campaign.

The release states that the public kickoff took place yesterday at Miller’s Ale House, in Annapolis, where Grammas outlined her priorities: restoring integrity, rebuilding trust, and putting victims first.

Grammas served more than two decades as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Anne Arundel County and, as of October 2025, works in the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office. She has led the Auto Manslaughter Trial Team, prosecuted violent crime, and served as Deputy Chief of District Court in Anne Arundel County, the statement said.

"Justice requires integrity, and victims deserve a State’s Attorney they can trust,” Grammas said in the press release. “For more than 25 years, I’ve stood with victims, prosecuted serious crime, and insisted on doing things the right way. I’m running to restore ethical leadership and rebuild trust in the State’s Attorney’s Office.”

The statement emphasizes Grammas’ work with victims. Kimberly Funk Sizemore, the mother of a drunk driving victim, is quoted as saying, “Carolynn did so much for my family and son during the trial. She is such an asset to victims. It is comforting to know we have Ms. Grammas supporting victims in Anne Arundel County.”

According to the release, Grammas previously left the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office after raising concerns about ethical violations under the current leadership. A former federal law clerk, she believes justice depends not only on strong prosecutions but also on an office culture grounded in ethics and professionalism.

Grammas has reportedly received recognition from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, and the U.S. Department of Justice. She has testified before the Maryland General Assembly on legislation strengthening penalties for manslaughter, drunk and drugged driving, and reckless conduct endangering families, the campaign wrote.

Carolynn Grammas is described in the release as a wife, mother, and grandmother, married for more than 30 years with three grown children. Her campaign slogan, highlighted in the press release, is: Justice you can trust. Fairness you deserve.
