USNA Alumni Association & Foundation Honors John Taylor for 54 Years of Service
John Taylor is being recognized for an extraordinary 54-year career of service with the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation, according to a recent announcement from the organization.
Taylor’s journey began in the 1970s with a part-time weekend job as a busboy and dishwasher. According to the announcement, he quickly became a trusted and familiar presence, continuing to work weekends as a bartender while attending college before transitioning into facilities support.
After retiring from the State, Taylor later joined the Enterprise full-time, bringing decades of experience, dedication, and institutional knowledge that helped shape numerous events and experiences, the announcement said.
One of Taylor’s favorite memories came during an all-hands meeting where he was recognized for his years of service. According to the announcement, when his photo appeared on a large screen, Taylor initially thought he was in trouble, making the moment both surprising and memorable.
The announcement also highlighted Taylor’s appreciation for class reunion celebrations, particularly those for the Class of 1952, which he recalled for their music and lively atmosphere.
In reflecting on his career, Taylor encouraged new employees to be themselves, work collaboratively, and always strive to help others. Strong relationships and teamwork, he noted, make a meaningful difference, according to the announcement.
The organization concluded its message with a traditional naval farewell, thanking Taylor for his decades of service and recognizing his lasting role within the USNA Alumni Association & Foundation community.
