Senator Shaneka Henson Honors Annapolis Living Treasure Eliza Mae Robinson on Her 94th Birthday
Eliza Mae Robinson, one of Annapolis’ most cherished residents, was honored in the Maryland Senate on her 94th birthday by Senator Shaneka Henson. Senator Henson's tribute recognized Ms. Robinson’s decades of community advocacy, her work as an author and poet, and her lasting impact on communities across the city.
“Today we had the profound honor of celebrating Ms. Eliza Mae Robinson on her 94th birthday in the Senate,” Henson said in a statement. “Ms. Robinson is a historic figure in every sense of the word, an accomplished author and poet whose words have preserved our stories, an affordable housing champion who has fought to ensure families have safe and dignified places to live, and whose legacy is woven into the fabric of our community.”
Reflecting on her personal connection with Ms. Robinson, Senator Henson added, “She was also one of my earliest supporters. Long before titles and chambers, she believed. That kind of faith stays with you.”
Ms. Robinson’s lifetime of service includes her long-standing work with the Coalition for Atonement and Repair (CAR), her community activism, and her proud roots in Annapolis’ historic Old Fourth Ward. She has spent decades advocating for affordable, safe, and dignified homes for families and seniors, strengthening neighborhoods and bringing greater attention to equity and opportunity across the city.
