The visit to Annapolis is occuring after the monks completed a 2,300-mile pilgrimage from Fort Worth to Washington, D.C. "On Thursday, February 12, 2026, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller will host nearly two dozen Theravada Buddhist monks in Annapolis, the final destination on their 2,300 mile “Walk for Peace,” from Fort Worth, Texas," the Lt. Governor's Office said.
Along with several dozen volunteers and a canine companion, the monks will arrive in Annapolis at 9 a.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. They will walk to the State House and arrive at approximately 9:45 a.m.
Lt. Gov. Miller, Chair of the Governor's Council on Interfaith Outreach, will lead a collaborative conversation with the monks and the Council before the monks are introduced to each chamber.
