St. Mary's Annapolis Community Mourns the Passing of Beloved Alumna and Lacrosse Coach Natalie Wills
The St. Mary's Annapolis alumni community is mourning the loss of Natalie Wills, a member of the Class of 2008 and the school's 13 Year Club, who is being remembered for her accomplishments on the lacrosse field, her leadership, and the lasting impact she made on those around her.
According to St. Mary's Annapolis Alumni, Wills earned Most Valuable Player honors during her time as a Saint before continuing her lacrosse career at Vanderbilt University, where she was a four-year starter. Beyond athletics, she was actively involved in campus life through COSA, serving as the organization's president during her senior year.
Following college, Wills dedicated her professional career to the sport she loved. She coached at Boston University and University of Maryland, contributed to USA Lacrosse National Teams programs, and most recently coached at McDonogh School, where she inspired young athletes.
St. Mary's Annapolis Alumni said Wills will be remembered as "the ultimate teammate," describing her as warm, generous, and endlessly supportive of everyone around her.
The alumni association also reflected on her battle with cancer, noting that she faced the illness with remarkable courage and grace while continuing to inspire those around her through her infectious spirit and genuine care for others.
"Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and the many teammates, players, and students whose lives she touched," the organization said in its statement. "Rest easy, Natalie. Once a Saint, always a Saint."
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life and Catholic Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, with interment immediately following at Stevensville Cemetery.
