Our Legacy Tours Brings Annapolis' Untold Revolutionary History to Life with Dreams of My Soul: Rebirth
History came alive on stage this weekend as Janice Hayes-Williams and Our Legacy Tours presented Dreams of My Soul: Rebirth before audiences at the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on the campus of St. John's College in Annapolis.
The compelling theatrical production transported attendees to revolutionary-era Annapolis, exploring the lives of the city's often-overlooked residents during the tensions of 1776. Through powerful performances, the production examined the experiences of the enslaved, the indentured, and the gentry, illustrating how people from vastly different circumstances were united by a common longing for freedom.
The cast delivered an emotionally engaging performance that blended historical storytelling with dramatic interpretation, inviting audiences to reflect on the complex realities that shaped Annapolis during one of the nation's defining periods. The production's intimate staging and authentic period costuming further immersed attendees in the city's untold history.
The production was presented under the leadership of Executive Director Janice Hayes-Williams, with Director William F. Rowel, and Stage Manager Kevin Smith, working together to bring the performance to life. Their efforts, alongside those of the cast and production team, underscored Our Legacy Tours' continued commitment to preserving and sharing Annapolis' diverse historical narratives through the performing arts.
Presented over two evenings, Dreams of My Soul: Rebirth highlighted perspectives that have too often remained absent from traditional historical accounts while encouraging meaningful conversations about the enduring pursuit of freedom, resilience, and human dignity.
