Anne Arundel County Seeks Community Organization to Lead Violence Interruption Program in Brooklyn Park

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health is seeking community organizations interested in implementing a Violence Interruption Program in Brooklyn Park aimed at preventing and reducing gun violence.

According to Anne Arundel County Government, the initiative will use the Cure Violence Global model, which approaches gun violence as a public health issue and focuses on intervening before conflicts escalate.

The program would work to interrupt conflicts, engage individuals considered at the highest risk of becoming involved in violence, and connect participants with supportive resources and services.

County officials are calling on community organizations with the experience and capacity to carry out the initiative and make a meaningful impact on public safety in Brooklyn Park.

Organizations interested in implementing the Violence Interruption Program must submit their applications by Sept. 11.

The county is also encouraging residents and community stakeholders who know of organizations that may be well suited for the initiative to make them aware of the opportunity.
