Bates Middle School PTA Seeks Community Support for New Water Bottle Filling Station
The Bates Middle School PTA is turning to the community for help raising the remaining funds needed to bring an additional water bottle filling station to the school.
According to the PTA, a water fountain located in the school's eighth-grade hallway is currently not working. While the school has several other water fountains, the PTA reports that water flow from them is limited and that the water is not filtered.
Currently, Bates Middle School has one water bottle filling station. The PTA would like to add another for students and staff and is hoping community members, businesses, organizations or other supporters may be willing to help make that happen as soon as possible.
During the last school year, the PTA hosted a "Pie the Staff" fundraiser to begin raising money for the project. According to information provided by the PTA, the new filling station itself is expected to cost approximately $1,500 to $1,800.
Installation is expected to cost an additional $2,800. The PTA says Anne Arundel County Public Schools requires the organization to use AACPS-approved contractors for the installation.
The PTA now needs to raise approximately $2,800 more to cover the remaining project costs.
Rather than allowing that remaining price tag to stop the project, the PTA is asking whether an individual, local business, community organization or other donor might be willing to contribute toward the cost, or potentially cover the remaining amount as a gift to the school and PTA.
The goal is straightforward: provide Bates students and staff with greater access to a convenient water bottle filling station during the school day.
The PTA says it would like to make the project happen as soon as possible and is hoping the broader Annapolis community can help close the remaining funding gap.
Those interested in supporting the effort are encouraged to connect with the Bates Middle School PTA regarding opportunities to contribute.
For a school community that has already raised money toward the project, the remaining $2,800 represents the final hurdle between the idea and its completion.
Now, the Bates Middle School PTA is hoping the community can help get it across the finish line. To donate, or to learn more about this worthy cause, click here. For more information, contact: batesmiddleschoolpta@gmail.com
