Suspect in Robinwood Shooting Now Faces Homicide Investigation as Victim Dies in Hospital

The suspect charged with attempted murder in connection with a recent shooting may now be facing more serious charges due to the victim's death. 

Acording to the press release, officers were dispatched to a location in the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue at about 11:00pm on June 15, 2023, following reports of shots fired.  "Upon arrival, a 20 year old local man, Nelson Poston, 20, of Annapolis, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid to Mr. Poston and he was subequently transported to an area hospital in critical condition," the statement said.


Police reportedly executed a search warrant at a residence in the area, and subsequently identified Dimitria N. Weston, 29, as the suspect.  Weston was charged with attempted murder, first and second degree assault and other related charges. 

The Annapolis Police Department today announced that Mr. Poston succumbed to his wounds.  "This case is now a homicide investigation and is fluid and ongoing," the statement said.  

Weston remains held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.
