GoFundMe Campaign Supports Annapolis Family After Wife, Mother of Three Dies During Childbirth

A Gofundme campaign has been started in support of the family of an Annapolis woman who recently died during childbirth.

Douglas Rodriguez said his wife, Maria, went to the hospital on April 12 to give birth to their third child, and later died due to severe pre-eclampsia.  "She leaves a void in the hearts of all of us who knew and loved her," he said. "Today, there are 3 little angels who no longer have a mother."

An article published by the Mayo Clinic said pre-eclampsia is a potentially dangerous pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure, and usually begins after 20 weeks of pregnancy in a woman whose blood pressure had been normal. It can lead to serious, even fatal, complications for both mother and baby, the article states.

According to Rodriguez, any money raised will help the family cover costs related to funeral expenses for his wife. "No matter the amount, we will take any donation with great gratitude and may God multiply everything that is sown today in my house and my family."
